Florida Atlantic University, founded in 1964, is a public university with its main campus in Boca Raton, Florida, and is part of the Florida Public University System.
Florida Atlantic University, the first public university in southeast Florida, is also the first in the country to offer only upper-division and graduate programs. Since its inception, Florida Atlantic has conferred more than 110,000 degrees to nearly 105,000 alumni worldwide.
Although the school had only 867 students when it first enrolled, that number increased significantly when it began admitting lower-division undergraduates in 1984. By 2011, enrollment had exceeded 29,000 students from 140 counties in all 50 states and the capital city of the District of Columbia.
